During last winter Watkins Hire’s heat for hire division KwikHEAT received a call late on a Friday afternoon to provide an emergency heating system to a helicopter maintenance hanger as the installed radiant tube heating had failed, an engineer was dispatched immediately to assess their requirements.
As the shed was occupied by helicopter maintenance personnel they had previously rejected another companies proposal to install direct fired propane heaters, due to the number of heaters required, the changing of propane bottles and the fumes caused by these heaters.
KwikHEAT selected two of the KwikHEAT170 series 2 as the volume of the hanger was 300,000 cubic feet, the heaters were also supplied with two separate remote radio wireless thermostats to provide true temperature control. The KwikHEAT 170 series 2 has time clocks fitted as standard this would also provide unattended operation for stop and start times.
The equipment followed our engineer to site the same day, with the fuel tanks full of fuel, the equipment was installed and heat on Saturday morning.
The fuel usage was predicated and ongoing fuel management was provided by Watkins Hire. The equipment remained on site for the heating season, and the building occupants and the facility management company were very pleased with our performance and equipment which operated faultlessly, the facility management company was most impressed with the low noise level and the enviromental controls which gave them reduced running costs and emissions during the hire.
